Two-step authentication is an additional security measure that helps protect access to Author. In Enterprise accounts, this system is activated when logging into isEazy Author to make access even more secure.
Below, we explain how it works.
Using Two-Step Authentication
Once you have logged in with your email and password, you will be asked for a 6-digit verification code. This code is generated by the authentication app that you must have previously installed and configured on one of your devices (mobile, tablet, or PC). Only if you correctly verify this code will you be able to access Author.
Authentication App
To use two-step authentication, you will need to have an authentication app installed on your device. Below, we recommend some options, although you can choose the one that best suits your needs:
If you already use a password manager such as LastPass, Bitwarden, 1Password, or KeePass, you may also be able to use it to set up two-step authentication, as some of these applications include this functionality.
Setup
Once you have installed an authentication app on your device, the next step is to scan the QR code. After logging in with your username and password, you will access a page where a QR code will be displayed.
We explain the setup process step by step:
1. When you scan the QR code with the app, a 6-digit numeric code will start generating, which updates every 30 seconds.
2. You must enter the valid code at that moment and click the Validate button. If the code is correct, you will be able to access Author.
3. Once the setup is complete, the QR code will only be shown the first time. From that moment on, your account will be linked to the authentication app on your device.
For subsequent logins, you will no longer need to scan the QR code. You will only need to enter the verification code shown by the app at that time and click the verification button.
I Can’t Scan My QR
If you cannot scan the QR code, click the link Having trouble scanning the code?.
You should enter this code in the New Account function of your authentication app (usually called the secret). The result is the same as scanning the QR code: a new account will be configured in the app to access Author.
You can enter this code in the feature called New Account within your authentication app (usually referred to as the secret) and it should have the same effect as scanning the QR code, setting up a New Account in the app for Author.
Reconfiguring This Access
In some situations, you might not have access to your authentication app, for example, if you change your mobile device or if you have uninstalled the app.
In these cases, you will need to reconfigure two-step authentication by following the process detailed under the Setup section.
When, after logging in, you are asked for the verification code, you should click the link I can’t use my app for two-step authentication.
Within this section, you will need to click the link Send me an email. Then, the system will send you an email similar to the one shown here:
Things You Should Know
For the email button to work, you must first log in correctly using your email and password and reach the screen where the verification code is requested.
-
The email to reconfigure authentication is valid for 24 hours. If you try to use it after that time has elapsed, the system will redirect you back to the verification screen without showing the QR code, and an error message will appear indicating that the link has expired. In this case, you will need to request a new email.
Thanks to two-step authentication, only you will be able to access Author, even if someone knows your password, allowing you to work with greater peace of mind and confidence using the tool✨.
